Senior Accountant
Business Advisory Services

Location: Wellington

Type: Full-time

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Business Advisory Services (BAS) team at PKF Kendons.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a wide range of clients and delivering practical, hands-on support to help businesses succeed. You’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team, in a role that offers plenty of variety, responsibility, and the chance to grow your career.

What the role involves:

  • Preparing financial statements, tax returns, reconciliations, and special purpose reports for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
  • Providing clients with timely, practical business advice
  • Developing strong working relationships with clients and maintaining regular contact
  • Assisting with projects such as business plans, KPI reporting, and management accounts
  • Liaising with the IRD on behalf of clients
  • Using Excel and cloud-based systems like Xero to support efficient and accurate reporting
  • Staying up to date with current accounting and compliance standards
  • Providing guidance and support to junior team members

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified CA (or working towards CA)
  • 4+ years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a public practice setting
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Experience with Xero and other cloud-based systems
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment

2026 Graduate Programme

If you’re looking to start your career with a dynamic and fun firm that lives and breathes their core values then we are the team for you!

At PKF Kendons there is a large emphasis on our purpose and culture.  We are a close team of around forty, where our people are the focus.  This means that there is flexibility around work hours and working from home, dressing for your day, abundance of social get-togethers, a focus on your health, and wellbeing days for when you need to recharge.

You will have the freedom to grow and develop your career they way you want to with our team there to support you.

As part of our 2026 graduate programme, we will offer you comprehensive graduate training in a nurturing environment where you will have a lot of client exposure, support in study and exams to reach CA status and as part of the PKF global network there will be opportunities for career development.  There may be opportunities to move into our Audit and specialised Tax teams if you are interested in these areas.

We think you would be a great addition if you are highly motivated, have strong attention to detail and are a team player with great communication skills.
